Disclosure: I work for Samsung. More disclosure: what they announced today makes my job harder. Cause the phone is still cheap plastic, the Gear 2 and Gear Fit only work on modern (18 months or younger) Samsung devices (you read that right, they aren't open to all Android devices) and in general, fuck it. You'll all buy these by the truckload anyways.

Is this real o-o. My friend is such a golf nut he would kill someone to get this.
Oh and I pulled the trigger on a Galaxy Gear two weeks ago without checking if it was because a new one was coming out -_- Going back to iOS in September anyways.
I do have a record of buying this at the worst time though. Got a EOS M when it first came out, $1,100 for the entire kit and it was a huge flop.

Have you met LeBron James?
Or do only the top marketing folks get to meet him?

Love hate with the build quality of my G4. Plastic is really flexible and withstands abuse well, screen seems to be under a lot less stress when dropped compared to the iphones. On the other hand it feels cheap.

The Gear has so much potential if they unlocked its use to every single phone, at least every phone running 4.2 or higher with BT 4.0LE or what have you.
If I'm having a locked down OS with locked down hardware, why wouldn't I just pick Apple who does that the best?

That backhanded Apple compliment bitchslapped Steve Jobs out of his grave LOL
But yeah, I'm probably going to ROM my watch as soon as I have a gap in my schedule. I don't think there's a ROM for my phone that would allow it to connect with the watch, but there is ROM for my watch. So I can only root one thing LOL.

Bought a moto X developer edition for 280 or whatever it was on clearance off contract so I can keep my unlimited data on verizon for as long as possible. But I'll probably sell it and get something on T-mobile or whatever. Or just stick with a month to month plan and leave if I don't like it. I used to be a big nexus fanboy, but I don't see the need anymore.

Picked up S4s after 3+ years with Droid X's. I have an iPhone 5 for work. The S4 seems nice enough. I'm still trying to find cool stuff to do with it. Put a nice little ACare case on it.

This is how I feel about galaxy phones. Durable as hell, better than metal, but a leather back plate mounted on plastic could/would have blown away the competition.

Once Samsung offers some nicer materials and Apple increases the size of the iPhone both companies will become even more dominant. I don't see how anyone will compete with the Samsung/Apple duopoly. They have more capital for marketing than anyone else and the biggest customer bases. The only thing that kept HTC afloat last year was the premium feel of the HTC One vs. the Samsung phones.
The interesting thing is that once Samsung and Apple fix their biggest flaws and people buy the new phones their customers will upgrade less often. Phones are already super fast. We'll finally be able to use them for more than 2 years once our biggest gripes are addressed.

I wouldn't pick one up if it fell off a truck. iPhone FTW!
Totally kidding. I'm mobile phone agnostic (with a deep sympathy for the sexy Windows Phone interface) and probably will upgrade to an iPhone 6 when the time comes just because it will be easy.
But, why will this phone make your job harder?

I'll take mine in black. It hides the dimples the best.
Kidding aside, I'm actually kinda excited about that and the Gear Fit. Do you know anything about pricing on either yet?

What? I do too! (Your secret is safe with me - heh!).
STA or SEA?
If you're in Richardson we may just need to have a face-to-face tomorrow!

It depends on his job. I work there too, and I know a couple people who have met him (they're in marketing, though, and big B-ball fans).
Our new CMO came from Nike, so if I recall, that's where the LeBron connection came from.

GS5 should be priced like the GS4 has been at launch. Like any flagship phone in the US, really. Harder to say if you're outside the US, but still probably similar to the GS4 when it launched.
Gear - that's harder to say. Likely priced like the first Gear, which will likely drop in price (and get snapped up by people that want to root them and run Android on them. Had that going for a while, and it was pretty cool).
I'm speaking from past experience - I honestly have no knowledge about what we're currently planning. If I did, I obviously couldn't comment on it...

Nice!!
I'm not a Heat fan but I'm a fan of LeBron. He's too amazing not to have a lot of respect for. He's a total monster.
It could be a really long time until any sport has another star like him. Never before has someone that athletic had so much skill. Most players with truly transcendent athleticism rely on their body too much and don't work hard enough to improve their skills.

I'm thinking about buying a S4Mini to replace my POS iPotato 4s. What say you all? Worth the upgrade? Better than the Potato?

I figured as such, but what's it hurt to try?
All aside, I think the Gear Fit can be a massive hit if priced right—$149-$179 range is the sweet spot I think.
